Bauer Confirmation of minutes of the meeting of April 14, 2025.

Bauer BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Chair of the Board of Health Verbal Report, the Medical Officer of Health Verbal Report, and the reports titled: Ottawa Public Health’s Strategic Plan for 2023-2027 – Update from Quarter Four of 2024 to Quarter One of 2025, 2025 Operating & Capital Budget Q1 – Board of Health for the City of Ottawa Health Unit Status Report and the 2024 Ottawa Public Health Annual Report, be received and considered.

Bauer THAT, the Board of Health for the City of Ottawa Health Unit extend the appointment of the Interim Medical Officer of Health until the end of this calendar year, or until the Medical Officer of Health vacancy is filled, whichever comes first.

Bauer Whereas the public beaches of Ottawa provide residents and visitors exceptional recreational and tourism opportunities, supporting both physical and mental health, and play a critical role in the mitigation of ever more frequent heat-related emergencies; Whereas the City of Ottawa has long been a leader in taking water quality seriously, and has provided daily water quality results so that every person accessing one of the 5 City beaches could make informed decisions about swimming; Whereas testing of urban beaches requires a higher threshold than the provincial standard, and that public confidence in our beach water quality is already low; Be it resolved that Ottawa Public Health, in collaboration with the Ottawa Riverkeeper and other stakeholders, undertake a comparative analysis of the relative risk of daily vs weekly water testing for the season and in parallel promote the safe and healthy use of our beaches, and report back to the Board at its September meeting with recommendations on service standards.

Bauer That the Board of Health for Ottawa Public Health: Receive for information Ottawa Public Health’s Strategic Plan for 2023-2027 Update from Quarter Four of 2024 to Quarter One of 2025, as outlined in Document 1.

Bauer That the Board of Health for the City of Ottawa Health Unit receive the 2025 Q1 operating and capital budget status report for information.

Bauer ​​​That the Board of Health for the City of Ottawa Health Unit: ​Receive Ottawa Public Health’s 2024 Annual Report; and Approve that it be forwarded to Ottawa City Council for information, in accordance with the City of Ottawa Act, 1999.​​

Bauer BE IT RESOLVED THAT Confirmation By-law no. 2025-4, a by-law of the Board of Health for the City of Ottawa Health Unit to confirm the proceedings of the Ottawa Board of Health at its meeting of June 16, 2025, be read and passed.
