Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee

WHEREAS the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee directed staff to report on actions completed, actions underway, actions remaining outstanding, recommendations for future Committee consideration and implementation timelines arising from the 2024 Rural Summit; and WHEREAS the report proposes annual reporting to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, with an interim report in Q1 2027; and WHEREAS biannual reporting would provide Committee with more timely oversight of implementation, emerging challenges, funding requirements and actions requiring Council direction; and WHEREAS a consolidated action tracker is necessary for Committee and the public to assess implementation progress, outstanding priorities, funding requirements and measurable results; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that staff be directed to provide the first interim Rural Summit implementation update to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee in Q1 2027, as already proposed, to follow with an update in Q2 and an update in Q4 2027, with biannual updates thereafter; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that staff be directed to include, as part of the Q1 2027 Rural Summit progress report, a comprehensive action tracker identifying, at a minimum: the most common concerns, up to five, within each of the six themes identified within the report; the corresponding action and intended deliverable that address these main concerns; whether the action is completed, underway, outstanding or not proceeding; the responsible depa
