WHEREAS the Ward Councillor’s comments were inadvertently omitted from the report on this item; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the “Comments by the Ward Councillor” section of the report be amended to include the following text: Comments from Councillor Laura Dudas (Ward 2): For far too long, Orléans has been held back by a lack of direct transportation connections to the central and southern parts of our city. While our community has grown rapidly, the infrastructure has not kept pace. Development has overburdened the few east-west corridors available, leaving residents feeling frustrated and disconnected. This is an issue I’ve been advocating for since before my time as Councillor, which speaks to how deeply it matters to our community. Both the Cumberland Transitway and the Brian Coburn Extension are critical links that would finally connect Orléans to the broader city. These projects are not just about roads and transit; they are about equity, access, and opportunity. They would provide vital connections for motorists, cyclists, and transit users alike. As we move forward, it is essential that all future design proposals continue to undergo thorough and meaningful community consultation. We must ensure that the communities impacted by these projects are actively involved in the planning process, and that future transportation infrastructure reflects our needs today while preparing us for the growth and challenges of tomorrow.
