Transportation Committee

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Transportation Committee approve the addition of this item for consideration by the committee at today’s meeting, pursuant to subsection 89(3) of the Procedure By-law (being By-law no. 2016-377) in order to have this matter addressed in advance of Orléans Ribfest 2017.

WHEREAS the Orléans Ribfest is an outdoor festival to celebrate Canada’s 150 & promote the best of ribs, chicken & pulled pork in the Orleans area; and WHEREAS the Orléans Ribfest is to occur from Thursday, September 14, 2017 to Sunday, September 17, 2017; and WHEREAS Centrum Boulevard, from Prestone Drive to Brisebois Crescent, is required to be closed to accommodate the festival and on-street festival set-up; and WHEREAS the on-street festival set-up will commence at 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017 and the festival will begin operation at 11:00am on Friday, September 15 2017; and WHEREAS the City of Ottawa’s Special Events on City Streets By-law (2001-260) prohibits road closures before 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council approve the road closure for Centrum Boulevard, from Prestone Drive to Brisebois Crescent, from 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017 to 6:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 for Orléans Ribfest, providing it meets the requirements, conditions and approval of Special Events Advisory Team (SEAT).
