Planning Committee

WHEREAS the existing Uptown Rideau Community Design Plan is currently under review and is expected to be presented to Council this fall; and, WHEREAS both the existing version of the Uptown Rideau Community Design Plan and the draft version of the new plan recognize that the South side of Rideau Street from Chapel to the Rideau River has limited potential for development due to shallow lots abutting primarily historic, low-rise houses; and, WHEREAS the proposed development does not meet the requirement nor the spirit of either of the current Uptown Rideau Community Design Plan, nor the draft version of the new one; and, WHEREAS approval of the proposed development would undermine the integrity of the yet to be completed new Uptown Rideau Community Design Plan; and, WHEREAS this Council has expressed a desire to develop and implement community design plans; THEREFORE be it resolved that consideration of the Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment applications in respect of 538, 544, 560 Rideau Streeet and 501 Besserer Street be

That the following changes be made to Document 2 – Community Design Plan of the report: 1. The boundaries of the Community Design Plan shown in Appendices A to G and associated Key Maps and figures be amended to reflect the boundaries as shown in the staff report and draft official plan amendment; 2. Appendix C be further amended to remove “traditional mainstreet to be removed” from the map and legend to reflect the draft official plan amendment; and, 3. Figures 5, 6 and 7 be amended to replace the text “Carp Road Node” with “Crossing Bridge”.

That this item be deferred to the August 25, 2015 Planning Committee meeting.
